Who’s who

Meet the New Life Church team.

About Us

Tom D

Senior Pastor

I became a Christian in my early 20s, where I came to see from the Bible that Jesus really is the real deal – and that I desperately needed him to be put right with God. Since then, I’ve come to rely on his amazing love that won’t let me go.

One thing I love about Battersea is how on any given day you can be plied with some of the finest home cooked food from all over the world. One downside of Battersea is the pedestrian crossing by the Co-Op on Battersea Bridge Road – is it deliberately trying to slow you down when you press the button?

I’m married to Sarah, and dad to Abbie and Jack, and am a longsuffering Arsenal fan. Maybe this will be our year?

Jason

Elder

I became a Christian when a friend began to show me the life and work of Jesus in the gospel of John (with some chocolate cake thrown in on the side).

One thing I love about Battersea is the incredible park!

I’m married to Rachel, and dad to Evie, Esther, Reuben and Grace.

Rachel

women’s worker

I grew up in a Christian family and was always surrounded by the example of people with a love for Jesus that overflowed into a love for others. I’ve had a personal relationship with Jesus as long as I can remember.

I love Battersea Park with all the places explored and times spent there over the years with others.

I’m married to Jason, mum to four children and enjoy a good game of football (playing) when I get the chance.

Tom H

Elder

I first came to Battersea as a student and I loved the local community, outlook and mission at church so much, I decided to stay.

Becoming a Christian was a journey over a number of years for me. As I saw the power and authority of Jesus in the Bible alongside his love and kindness to social outsiders, I became increasingly convicted of how far I fell short of being good enough for God and my need to trust in him for salvation.

I’m married to Tania, and together we can code our way through any issue.

Tania

Deacon

I’m from Malaysia where I grew up in a Christian family, and decided to follow Jesus for myself in my early teens after realising that if God really is who he says he is in the Bible, that changes my whole life!

Since then I’ve moved around various places for study and work, yet in each place I’m thankful for God’s steadfast love especially in faithful local churches that’ve been a family away from home.

I love the riverside walk in Battersea! I’m married to Tom H, and can take him down at tennis.

Ezra

Elder and RISE youth worker

I grew up in a South London flat, raised by my mum. I knew very little about Jesus until I was invited to a Christian Youth Club.

There were fun activities and intentional Bible teaching with people like me -I loved it. Over some years (and many questions), God used the Bible’s message of Good News to the poor to completely change my values and the direction of my life. I became a Christian at 15 years old.

I began serving in youth ministry on council estates shortly after, with a desire to share the Good News, especially with the least reached. What I love about Battersea is the people, especially the God-given potential I see in the boys and young men. What I hate is food with dairy. The feeling is mutual.

I’m married to Funmi, and dad to Jethro. We spend our Sunday afternoons battling in heated Mario Kart tournaments.

Samantha

Administrator

I was raised a Christian in a Christian household that attended church every Sunday and believed myself to be a Christian.

It wasn’t until adulthood and hearing Jason preach that my eyes were opened to the fact that I was talking the life of a Christian but not actually walking the life of a Christian.

One thing I love about Battersea is the memories; living here all my life I’ve made many. One thing I hate is the lack of parking!

I’m married to Matthew, and mum to Luke and Harrison.

Hannah

Ministry intern

I grew up in a Christian household with great examples of what it looks like to follow Jesus.

When I was 17, I began to understand that God was inviting me into a personal relationship with Him and I didn’t have to navigate life on my own. Choosing to surrender my life to Christ is the best decision I’ve ever made!

I’m originally from Texas, and I moved to Battersea to be part of what God is doing here. Moving to another country is something I never would have imagined for myself—but Jesus has a way of leading us into places we never expected, all for the sake of His Kingdom. Being here has been such a gift, and Battersea Park quickly became one of my favourite places to enjoy the beauty of this community.
